crossover question

2 posts in this topic

When submitting coins for crossover, are the original grades covered up on the old PCGS holders so as not to influence the NGC graders at all? Or do the NGC graders see the current PCGS grades? I'll be submitting a number of PCGS coins for crossover for the first time and I'm just curious.

Thank you for the question. NGC graders see the grade of the PCGS-graded coin. Other factors besides just the grade are necessary in considering whether or not a coin will cross, including but not limited to "+", color designations, surface designations such as PL, CAM, FH, FB, FT, FS, etc. It is also important to have full knowledge of any variety that may have been assigned in order to confirm its status. To have full knowledge of the overall grade assigned is necessary to prevent accidental crack outs.
