OK, I Get Die Clashing, But What About This?

3 posts in this topic

I just recently bought this half-dime for my 7070 type set. Though it is graded MS-62 the coin is not particularly attractive. This coin also has a semi-PL surface which makes it especially difficult to photograph.

However, the main reason I bought the coin other than for my type set is for the interesting die clash marks it displays. Half dimes are notorious for clashing, but this coin has what appears to be a tripling of the reverse bow around Liberty's head.

There are also some interesting clash marks on the reverse. Can someone explain to me how this type of clashing occurs? Thanks.
