Are all the rattlers the same type of rattler or are there different types of rattlers? It sounds complicated how i asked it but hopefully someone who knows much about the subject can help.

“Are all the rattlers the same type of rattler or are there different types of rattlers?”

There are two genera of rattlers: Crotalus and Sistrurus. They include the well-known Eastern diamondback and desert sidewinder, and lesser-known Massasauga and Pigmy rattlesnake. All together there are at least 33 species of rattler.

White foaming at the mouth can occur in some victims, also.

No, only the very first generation of PCGS slabs are rattlers. For more information, look here:

Jason, I will have to disagree with you here. Actually the Gen 2 PCGS slab is essentially a rattler surrounded by an anti tampering plastic wrap that makes it harder to tamper with the slab. The other difference is the label. If you come across a rattler that doesn't have the back of the label that looks like the below picture then it's a gen 2 with the outer seal removed.

PCGS 1, 2, 2.5,3 and 3.5 are all basically rattler slabs. PCGS 1 is your basic rattler slab but 2, 2.5, 3, and 3.5 are rattler shells with the additional plastic band around them.

The ones with the white foam were from a short period when they ran out of cent sized inserts and used nickel size with the foam rings to fill the extra space. You don't see them very often.

Yes, by the time a bite victim shows white foaming they have only a short period to live, and often show a burst of disordered energy including random running out and about.

Roger never quite made it as a comedian. That's when he started writing books on numismatics.
