Watching the Development of a Coin Doctor....

1 post in this topic

Since Im a "toner guy" one of the things that I do religiously is search EBay for toned coins...

Its a time consuming process and probably one that my wife hates but sometimes you can find a good deal here or there and it beats watching TV.

One of the side benefits to it - at least to me - is watching the maturation of a coin doctor(s). For several years Ive been watching a few AT specialists work on their craft. You can learn a lot by watching. Few doctors rarely get better but once in a while you will see a certain coin doctor get closer and closer to breaking into the "maybe that will grade" camp.

Ive watched two in particular over the years, one gets his coins into PCGS slabs on a regular - usually under Secure Plus and now another one I think just got his first coins into NGC holders. Its hard to tell since they are never sold by the same account but the coins have the same look.

I know Im probably in a vast minority here but has anyone else had the same experience or at least a similar one ?
