eBay, 99c starting 10/23: nice 1600s/1700s "holey" silver coins + some fossils

As usual, 99c-start true auctions with free worldwide shipping.

 

These two coins are some of the very last remnants of my onetime trademark "Holey Coin Vest" collection.

 

Old holes notwithstanding, they're both neat pieces with interesting history.

 

You gotta love this big old 2/3 thaler piece.

And here is a fascinating "pretender" issue. I had always thought "King Charles III of Spain" was that bignosed guy who ruled from 1759-1788. And he was. But so what's his title doing on a coin from 1711, five years before he was born?

 

(It seems we can learn something new every day from our coins. I just did, anyway!)
