Kissing Lincolns

Thought this was funny....

I was watching The Simpsons tonight and there was an episode where Bart and Homer start collecting Lincoln cents. They almost fill up a book, but struggle to find one last obviously made-up coin: a 1917 "Inverted Double-struck Penny", otherwise known as the "Kissing Lincolns".

So I did a Google search to see if anyone photoshoped one. Sure enough:

The show explains: "The inverted double struck penny, or "kissing lincolns", was mistakenly minted in December of 1917, where a brief glimpse of a woman's ankle caused rioting for 3 days."

Looks like a DCAM to me...

I like the final line of the show when Homer says about their completed cent album "Now, let's put it on the shelf and never look at it again."
