1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS-65 GSA Holder (With GSA Box and Numbered Certificate)

 

A major GSA rarity, which is tied for finest known with just nine other coins. Most of the other MS-65 examples are in the top registry sets and change hands once a decade or longer.

 

The 1879-CC is considered one of the keys to the series due to the low mintage of 756,000 coins, and only 4,100 coins were sold in the GSA Hoard in the 1960s and 1970s. The vast majority of the mintage were actually circulated and used in commerce, as opposed to the 1881-CC for example, where approximately 50% of the mintage were distributed uncirculated in the GSA Hoard.

 

Coin comes with original numbered GSA certificate (with the 79 prefix to denote the year of issue) and pristine GSA box.
