Never Thought I Could Upgrade This Issue posted by Jackson

The 1945-S Walking Liberty Half was always one I presumed that I would never own an MS67.

I'm going to keep this journal short- at least that is my intent as usual. I won't go into the convoluted search for one coin that led me to browsing the inventory of a certain dealer who had what I was looking for but not within my means at this time.

Consequently, I saw this attractively detailed, crusty and unique looking 1945-S Walker Half in MS67. The coin was priced at more than I have ever spent on a single coin, yet nicely discounted below any other I've seen in this grade. I slept on it overnight, revisited the webpage the following morning and went ahead and made the offer.

A few hours later I had received confirmation that my highly respectful offer was accepted and I finished the purchase...no long story needed and no complications ( except that the coin is registered to another Registry participant and can't be listed yet--no big deal though, I will have the coin in hand in a few days and start my attempts at imaging- hopefully it will be released soon by the past owner.)

The photo/image I am posting is not my work but is now of the coin that I own. Happy hunting everyone--if you can't find what you are looking for, maybe something you hadn't imagined you could obtain may fall across your path........

Hi Jackson,

Congrats on snagging an absolutely KILLER Walker!! That is a beautiful coin, and I really love rim toning on that! And I too find myself drawn to, as you put it, the "crusty" look on silver coins. Sometimes some really killer stuff can just fall into our laps when we least expect it. I had one of those recently myself, and it's at NGC right now. I'm not going to say anymore right now......it will have its debut when it comes home...

Congratulations again!!

~Tom

Nice looking Walker with sweet toning! Finding a nicely struck 45-S is NOT easy and 67s are rather rare in an absolute sense.

I'm glad that it worked out for you!! You just never know!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Thanks everyone--and I would like to mention that whomever was the prior owner of the coin had released it by the time I awoke this morning.

Walkerfan-- we are of the same mind concerning the strike. In fact, the relative fullness of strike in the obverse center ( especially for the San Fran issues) was what tipped me over theedge from " should I?" to " I can't pass this one up."

Beautiful coin, great score! (thumbs u

I picked up an MS67 1945S 50C recently too. Silver, same size, same mint, same year, beautiful woman on the obverse, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and an eagle on the reverse. Same thing, ...

only completely different. (Sorry, I just couldn't resist.) ;)

If Jackson don't mind, then I guess neither do I. :roflmao: Both 67's are a sight to behold and are excellent acquisitions! Congratulations are in order for both of you! (thumbs u

Congratulations on a great upgrade to your set. Highest grade there is, nice strike and pleasing toning. I have reached the poiint with my 41-47 set that upgrades are unlikely but, like you, I keep looking and maybe something irresistable will come along.....

Nice grab Jackson :) I was pleased to see you still "out there" searching as I have lost a little desire of late. Still looking for a the 35s to complete my short set but it is a booger to find. Thanks for giving my collecting urge a boost:)
