It depends on how you look at this...

If you're talking about regular issue coinage, then it's the 1922 HR Peace dollar.

On the other hand, if you include commems in business strike format (that commonly circulated), then it's the the Boone 1938 P, D, or S.

ANSWER:

1935/1934-D Boone Commemorative.

The 1935/1934-D is a different variety than the 1935-D, the 1935-D having a much higher mintage. Technically, there were only two correct answers given this week from dealmakr and myself. But this wouldn't be the first time I've disagreed with a TPG's "liberal grading". confused.gif

"But I'm sure that's what they meant."

The lowest business strike silver coin of the 20th century is the 1913-S quarter, with a mintage of 40,000, followed by the 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter (52,000) and then the 1901-S Barber Quarter (72,64).

The lowest mintage for any silver proof coin from any regular series of the 20th century (non-commemorative) is the 1914 Barber quarter (Mintage 380) or 1914 Barber Half (Mintage 380).

And the lowest mintage for any silver coin from any 20th century coin for any series of coins still in use is the 1936 Washington Quarter proof (3,837).
