Understanding wording on labels

8 posts in this topic

I have seen the same grade of coins listed in NGC, PCGS, and ANACS with different labels

Here is an example

2009 D 1C The Lincoln Master Collection ANACS MS66 Log Cabin

2009 D 1C Birth & Childhood Lincoln Cent NGC MS66 Red

2009 D 1 C Lincoln Early Childhood Cent PCGS MS66RD

Why cant they list the same?

It's three different grading companies, each with their own preference and no real incentive to use identical wording.

I selected the descriptions for the four 2009 cents, basing the wording on what was found on the Mint's website. The match is not exact, but NGC tries to relate all commemorative themes to the U. S. Mint literature.
