Will NCS do one-sided conservation?

2 posts in this topic

NCS,

Will you conserve one side of a coin only without affecting the opposite side?

I have a silver proof Jefferson nickle and a sequi half that I would like one side only conserved. Doable?

We can certainly consider requests to conserve only one side of a coin. Most often we will be able to honor such requests.

There are instances, however, when such a request would not be possible. Most often this is because a coin may appear "mismatched" and thus unattractive. If a coin's problem is residue, typically both sides will be conserved of at least that residue as leaving such residues will be detrimental to the coin in the long term. In the case of previously certified coins, if the conservation of only one side would have a negative impact on the grade, a one side conservation request will typically be disregarded.

If you would like to request the conservation of only one side, please mark your form as such in the margins. Any special request as to the conservation or processing of your coins can be added here and will be considered in the evaluation and conservation processes. Also feel free to add a note that you would like to be contacted during the conservation process by either telephone or email.

Chris, NCS
