I need help from NGC slab historians!

Hi.

Well, I wouldn't call this a missile crisis, but I'm curious about an inexpensive

toned Peace that I recently received. It's a NGC 65 1923 Dollar housed in an old

(no hologram) holder. The NGC insignia is etched in gold on the back of the coin

that has ID #129168-005. It has light rose toning on both sides with hints of red, blue and gold on the reverse. There are only a few blemishes but a "smudge" on liberty's face and neck.

This coin is impossible to scan. If you hold it one way you see color and luster, if you hold it another way you see the smudge.

Overall it's a pretty cool coin, and I paid $150 (1/20 the price of that OTHER toned dollar I have).

Anyone know how Peace dollars were graded during this "era?"

Thanks,

barney aka enriched
