$20 gold pieces

12 posts in this topic

A friend of mine is looking to buy 50-100 $20 gold pieces and was looking to pay

1)$40 over spot for AU's and $90 above for MS 61/62 (common years).

Is his price in the ballpark?

2)Who can you recommend as a seller?

Thank you.

Just by going through APMEX and buying 5 tubes of 20 1 oz 2014 AGE's he can get all BU for only $63.00 per oz. over current spot.

Just figure 100 oz would cost him $144,379.00 as I am writing this.

These are the APMEX AGE's

Shop around at MCM, MCW, Silvertowne, etc... and find the best price for bulk with a bank wire. I bet MCM would work a better deal than what I just mentioned.

I will add that if your friend is just wanting to purchase gold in bulk then they might just as well buy it in bars and that would lower the price over spot even further. I see them advertise from time to time 1 oz bars for next to nothing over spot when buying in bulk.

Rarcoa or Heritage may be good bets on those.

Heritage really specializes in dates that are more rare. I'm mainly talking about common dates selling for small premiums over spot.

I saw Rarcoa prices and unless I'm reading the table wrong none come close to the prices needed.

I think OP wanted pricing on $20 liberties and Saints?

Oh.. I think I see another mysterious hoard uncovered and his friend on the news in the near future.

You're reading the table wrong. Spot $1382. Rarcoa sell MS61 Libs $1445. Saints $1470 both within $90 of spot.

Yes, I understand now after looking at the table once again (thumbs u

I went to Rarcoa's website to verify the prices, looked up double eagles and saw different prices quoted. They listed various years/grades, etc and none seem close to the prices offered in the table.. Obviously, I'm not looking in the correct spot?

Ahhh.. that's the problem with getting old. The world is moving at a faster speed than I am. (shrug)

P.S. does Rarcoa advertise less than some other online sellers? I never heard of them but I guess with my limited knowledge I shouldn't be surprised. I didn't see many reviews of their services although I note that they seem to attend many coin shows. Are they a rather large seller? Is there any price advantage in approaching them at a show versus by phone?

Thanks again to everyone for their help. Coins are rather new for me.

Heritage buys and sells a sizeable quantity of generic gold coins on a daily basis.

Heritage most definitely. Call and ask to speak to Doug Baliko. They sell a whole lot more than what people think and at good prices. None of that 17.5% buyers fee spoon. Mr. Feld might be able to assist you I'm not really sure as I'm the only one here that hasn't bought from him, yet. Their buy/sell is very fair.
