Major Barber Errors Auction @ ANA - Atlanta 2/27/2014

4 posts in this topic

If anyone has received the latest Heritage Auction catalog for the ANA Early Spring Show,

you might want to check out these two lots:

# 3820 - 1895-O - Barber Dime - Obverse Die Cap. PCGS 64

This coin is Unique for the date. It is also the key date

of the Dime Series, if you discount the N/C 1894-S date.

Both coins are featured in Mike Byers' book: World's Greatest Mint Errors,

pages 46 and 47. The prices listed in his book were actual sale prices when

they changed hands last. Although Heritage lists the coins as having been

auctioned in the last ten years, they did not hit their reserves.

The listed prices in the book are somewhat high ( IMHO ) and these coins

are being sold without reserve. I will be in attendance at the auction.

Both Error Specialists and Barber Enthusiasts are watching these two lots

closely. Again, I will post images and links to the actual auctions once I am

off the iPad.

Thanks for looking. Good luck bidding.

I hope the readership has a few moments to stop by table 427 at the

ANA show in Atlanta this week.

Ponyexpress8 ( Glenn Holsonbake ) Valente151 ( Mike Valente ) and of

course, Elbesaar ( Mike Hayes, yours truly ) will be on hand for a meet and

greet.

Thanks for the interest in my two major errors. It's been a blast owning them,

and i know it's time to pass the torch. I have a bunch of lesser errors and I enjoy

them as well.

Hope to see you at the auction on Thursday evening - as they say : Bid early and Often !!
