1913 TY I Obverse Struck Thru 5C Mint Error

Please be so kind as to explain why this coin 3748326-004 did not receive a numeric grade.

 

I have located numerous Obverse Struck Thru examples in the same series that are Mint Errors with assigned numeric grades:

Thanks for the question. Large struck-throughs that obstruct a large portion of one or both sides are not numerically graded. The logic is that strike, as one of the fundamental components of grade, cannot be evaluated. For the same reason, adjustment strikes and blank planchets are not numerically graded. Instead, the error is noted and the coin is encapsulated without a grade.
