Yeah, somehow ended up with 3 PCGS MS64 1938D Jeffersons once. This was in the early days of my coin "collection." Got a little carried away back then... Still have all three.

 

EDIT: Since this is in the foreign section, I have coins that I WISH I had bought three of them...because if I see a foreign coin I like, usually at silver melt, I will buy it unless my bank account is empty.

a) 2 - 2000 UK 5 Sovereign BU PCGS MS69 First 100 coins struck (bought at the same time)

b) 2 - 2001 USA $1 SAE BU PCGS MS69 Twin Tower Recovery coins (bought at the same time)

c) 4 - 2009 USA Ultra High Relief Double Eagles (bought at the same time with assistance of 3 good friends - due to limit of 1 per household)

d) 2 - 2009 UK Sovereign 5-coin proof set NGC PF70UltraCameo (bought within the same month)

That's one big reason I like foreign stuff. Duplication is rare, though it does happen.

I have no problem buying duplicates of coins in my series if I am able to find them, I consider it a good value and I really like it. I will prioritize these over the more common issues even if I do not own them. I do not have many but have a few. One is the 1757 Peru 1/2 real in both AU-68 and MS-63 graded by NGC.

Yes me to shield nickels all the time from bad photos over the Internet thinking i dont have that variety in the collection

Most people purposefully buy multiple of the same coins if they are good values/buys.

I do all the time. I have 2 rolls worth of NGC/PCGS MS65 WLH's, many of them are duplicate dates and mints, a couple rolls of MS63 Morgans etc etc

When I see something that is of value to me (example: MS65 walkers for $80, MS63 silver dollars under $45) I don't mind buying multiples of the same coins

Yes, but sometimes you find die varieties by comparing the two coins so once in awhile it's a bonus.
