Revision to Franklin Proof set

The set for proof Franklin Half Dollars has been revised to include the rare Type 1 reverse 1956. This is not a separate slot, rather, Type 1 halves entered into the 1956 slot will be scored higher to reflect their greater rarity.

NGC has only recently begun distinguishing between Type 1 and Type 2, so you may want to check your sets to see if you have the rare one. The two types are described and illustrated in Breen's Encyclopedia of U. S. coins. NGC-certified 1956 proof halves not already so identified may be submitted for Type 1 or Type 2 through our Designation Review service.
