Coin jewelry

I went to the DeYoung museum in SF yesterday. One of the exhibits was Bulgari jewels. Needless to say, there were some things to make you go, "Wow"! One thing that interested me was that starting in the 1950's and '60's Bulgari started to do quite a few pieces with coins in them... predominantly necklaces, but everything up to and including ladies hand held evening purses. Most of the coins were ancient Greek and Roman, with a good slug of Byzantine ones too. However, there was a 1795 dollar in one necklace. Given the way the necklace was displayed behind glass, and in the way in the lighting hit it, it was difficult to tell, but I think there was some whizzing done on the coin. In any case the coin looked QUITE nice.
