BACK FROM NGC - GRADE POSTED PAGE 2 1883-CC GSA Morgan Dollar - guess the grade?

Well not really "guess the grade" since it is a raw coin. But guess what it WOULD grade if submitted to NGC..

These are the seller pics and I do not have the coin yet (I did buy it. It's on the way), so no comments from me on how accurate the pics are.

 

IMO, it's a 64+ with a fair shot at 65. What do you think?

 

If only it didn't have that hit on the jaw....

So much is dependent on luster and eye appeal that I can only agree with your assessment based on the images provided, a nice 64 with a shot at 65.

The luster on your raw coin looks dull and muted in the photo. If that is how it looks in person, the coin will not make MS-64. The MS-64 and higher grades require more luster, like the coin you have that graded 64. At any the cheek on your raw coin is not smooth enough to grade any more than MS-64.

These are the seller's pics, I'm pretty sure it's just his imaging that makes the coin look so dull. I should have the coin in hand tomorrow.

Baised on the luster that shows in the full slab shot I think it is a 65, very nice coin.

She's a beautiful coin. Take out those wounds to her kisser and she's an easy gem. I like her at MS64.

MS64+, with a very strong shot of making it into a MS65 holder given the luster (based on the new full GSA shot). If I had to bet on the outcome of a TPG submission, I would probably lean closer to MS65.

Got the coin yesterday.

It looks great in hand, great luster too.

It has a very good shot at MS65, and will be going out to NGC soon

I would say Ms64 only because of the scratches on her face other then that it would have made a ms65 !!

Yes. I've sent in probably 3 dozen toned GSA and no stars as of yet. I don't mind that very much. But I've seen many GSA's with ugly toning get a star, and some extremely nice ones that don't.

After the last monster toned GSA (MS64, that I sold through KryptoniteComics) I sent in didn't get a star, I gave up trying to guess what the standards are for a star on these.

I'm pleased with most of the grades I got, though. So it's all good
