For those who don't routinely read the NGC news releases, I'm posting below a link to an announcement of my new book. As many of you know, I collect and research coin boards and albums, and my latest book is about The National Coin Album and similar products:

I have a pre-publication offer that is good until October, which is when I expect the books to arrive from the printer.

End of plug...

This is another top-notch research work by David Lange - it focuses on one of his personal specialties: coin albums and folders. It contains lots of interesting ancedotes along with the historical information.

Highly recommended!!

That's the hole that was always filled with a MS coin, because no one could find it in circulation and had to buy one from a dealer.

In the late 1930s Secretary of the Treasury Morgenthau's newphews were trying to fill cent and nickel boards from circulation. He had some of his clerks look for 1931-S, 14-D, 13-S and 09-S VDB for the kids. They found all except the 31-S.
