a PL oddity, 1957-p washington quarter

5 posts in this topic

picked this one up on ebay, turns out it was struck with proof dies, much like the 1959-p franklin PL's. It has that same look to it as the franklin i had, It basically looks like a cross between a proof and a business strike. While I regretfully sold my certified PL silver washington, this one looks just as good, probably better. It will be submitted with my larger group of raw coins sometime soon :) Sorry for bad picks, i do not have proper lighting setup, this one looks better in hand. Let me know what you think, thanks

This looks like a Type B business strike. I have yet to get one labeled as PL, despite them having exceptional mirrors.

Actually, most 1957 Type Bs have some degree of glossiness or reflectivity, but they are almost always heavily toned. This piece is an oddity because it's white.

thats what seller said, type B reverse, he didnt mention anything about the obverse, which is just as reflective as reverse, i thought it was interesting coin, not bad for $17
