Hello Everyone,

 

This past Memorial Day weekend I was able to make a few coin purchases while fishing for Spring Chinook on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. If any of you have ever tried buoy fishing its great fun but there can be periods when the fishing is slow and you've told all your whooper fish stories, eaten all your snacks and are half dozing off when all of a sudden your reel starts to scream, it's pretty hilarious. In this case we caught a Wild Chinook and released it back to the river which is the rule for the early spring season here, later in June we'll be able to keep some of the wild species.

 

We had just hooked up on the fish pictured and got it to the boat when I got an alert on my phone that an auction was ending. I decided to wait until I got to our camp to check the result and found that I had won a number of coins for my Kennedy set.

 

I put together a collage to show off both specimens, the fish in question, a small Wild Spring Chinook Salmon about 22 lbs caught on a spoon and a 1991 P Kennedy graded by NGC MS67 with only 1 example graded higher in MS68. There were 14,874,000 of these coins minted and 154 examples have been graded by NGC to date with 71 od those graded MS67.

Had a hangnail like that once....kept snagging stuff. What kind of spoon did you use?...teaspoon, or one of those fancy collector's spoons?

When I saw the journal I knew you got two great keepers!!!

The pic is priceless and that specimen is definitely a KEEPER!!!!

The 1991 is a great addition and the salmon a tasty treat for sure!!
