Thank you so much for your high resolution images. I will have to try your approaches.

 

I tried an old 35MM film, manual focus 55mm Micro-Nikkor on my digital Nikon

and below are the results. It appears to have an edge over the AF 105 MM Nikkor.

You can be the judge. It's a dime. I had to move the tripod to about 5" of the coin.

Very True!!!

There are some very talented photographers here in this club. It started around 6 or 7 years ago when we all decided to give the best pic we could do. The pictures have become so good from practice that they would make a heck of a portfolio!! :)
