Competition vs Accessibility

NGC has not explained their basis for including coins in modern set competitions. The ATB 5 oz coins included the "Light Finish" varieties. Yet, NGC will not add the "Frosted Freedom" 2007 Platinum Proof 1/4, 1/2 and 1 ounce varieties to the competition. Since only single coins of each denomination have been graded, they claim adding these to the APE sets would limit "accessibility." PCGS has included these in their competition. I appreciate comments on this issue from other competitors--or should we just continue on with multiple registry Champions?
