Advice on a Morgan please!

12 posts in this topic

The toning is minor and the coin is pretty scarred up (i.e. it certainly isn't at the higher end of the 64 range in my opinion). Even accounting for the toning, I cannot envision this selling for more than any other generic 64 personally. Retail is approximately $85-$90, I personally wouldn't pay much more than $75 for it (and that would be more than fair). I really don't like the coin and probably wouldn't buy it personally.

I offered $80, he will go $100.

The 1880-S is a common date, and this coin is below average for the grade. It does not matter that it is in an old PCGS "rattle holder" the coin is marked up and subpar. PASS

This is an example that contradicts the urban myth that all "rattle holder" coins are under graded.
