In response to a question: "Do any Dies from the US Patterns of the 1800's still exist?"

A few are known. Many early master dies and hubs were destroyed in about 1879. Most from about 1869 forward were destroyed in May 1910 at the order of Mint Director Andrew. A complete discriptive list is in RAC 1909-1915. The obverse master die of the Saint-Gaudens $5 gold survived along with Barber's nickels of 1909-1910, and those made after 1910.

I don't know about patterns, but I did see an obverse die that was used to strike an 1807 Bust half dollar. It was cracked, and it was interesting to note the crack ran all the down into the body of the die, not just on the face.
