Mr. Lange,

 

As the Director of Research, could you tell me in your opinion, what is the best reference book for Washington quarters (varieties etc.), the author, and where I may obtain one?

There are two good works on this series with respect to varieties:

 

The Washington Quarter Dollar Book: An Attribution and Pricing Guide, Volume One 1932-1941 by James Wiles. This is extremely thorough for the years covered. I don't know when Volume 2 is due. Price $40.

 

The Best of the Washington Quarter Doubled Die Varieties by John Wexler and Kevin Flynn. This covers the entire series to 1981, but it is limited to DD varieties. Price $29.95.
