Now that's a Peace Dollar I can appreciate. No offense Shane, but the first one that you showed off that you purchased... I would consider ugly. Someone WILL pay a premium for it though.

It's really a development worthy of a supermarket tabloid front-page that our very own Shane a/k/a kryptonitecomics has gotten his paws on that controversial 1923 Peace Dollar with the wildly eccentric toning so doggedly debated in this recent thread:

1923 Peace debate

One of the most plausible theories ascribed the obverse toning pattern to contact with a file folder tab. However, it seems to me that an ordinary file folder might have left a larger shadow, meaning the imprint of what looks like a file folder is out-of-scale, it appears to be too small, can that please be checked, and can we please be informed of the scientific results with visual evidence?

Regardless, sincere congratulations on gaining physical possession of the bizarre beast!

I showed the Peace dollar to Andy Kimmel and while he had no issues with it being NT.....we could not come up with any plausible explanation for the toning that we were comfortable with hm

That 84 Morgan is really nice. I watching the faces of those at the table when it went around. It just grabs your eyes. I think everyone said WOW. You nailed the image.

The only problem was that the scrolling name tag should have been longer.

Thanks again indeed for this beautifully illustrated report, I now count five FUN show reports in this US coin forum, all of superb quality, all with lots of useful information, and all highly entertaining.

Reverting to the fantastic 1923 Peace Dollar, did wearing that shirt assist in making its acquisition? And here's a genuine serious question please: what's going on with the bottom bar of the first E of the word peace?

Shane, I think I'm glad I missed that shirt on an in person basis! ;)

Yes the superman shirt was less dramatic and easier on the eyes

I believe it's just a hit from a reeded edge of another coin but I can't find my loop to confirm....

The shirt looks blatantly AT.

PS: BTW, nice 1922 Peace dollar...one of the few I actually like (not a fan).

Shane's shirt was surprisingly tame compared to last years. I was actually disappointed. The scrolling name tag was a nice touch though. Maybe next year you can get more special effects? Little twirling coins, flashing lights, maybe a noisemaker?

Those two coins are sick. If/when they come up for sale, I'll be interested in both.

You'll have to fight me over the Peace Dollar. :baiting:lol
