1894 P Morgan Dollar Counterfeit? Altered Date?

This sold on eBay this morning for $400 + - I had a bid on the proxy bidder but removed it because I became concerned that the date looked altered.

What do the learned ones think?

My other red flag was poor listing and very little feed back on seller- Did I miss the buy or avoid getting hosed?

It looks counterfeit to me.

Can you provide a link to the listing so that I can contact the seller and report it. I didn't see it listed under completed items.

Here is the link to the auction:

You probably could not find it in completed auctions because you searched title only for the date 1894. The seller did not list the date in the title which was only "Morgan Dollar." The date was added later as additional info. However, I think one would have search the "entire listing" to find it.

To me the 4 looks completely wrong besides the other action which could just be damage. I compared it to on-line guides and the four looks way "short"- not enough space between the bottom line and the middle line if that makes sense.

At first it looked like a buy but I pretty wary anymore after a couple of stings.
