Italian Papal States piastra - 1678 - DAV-4089

I don't post often but I was excited about a piece that just graded with our host and wanted to share. There piastras are roughly the size of a German/Austrian state taler. This particular issue was a one year type issued on the first year of Pope Innocent XI's papal rule.

Looks AU55 --> AU58 to me. (Reverse looks MS60+)

Thanks HiHoAudio! I do not have it in hand, but the submission status page indicates that it is EF-40. I was hoping for a 45, but I think the grade is on target and they hit the mark. There is more wear on cheek than the photo might indicate, and the reverse detail shows signs of wear.

Looks like a light rub to me, otherwise the details are quite sharp.

 

EF40 is very good considering the date.
