1758 George II Great Britain Shilling -- GRADE REVEALED AT BOTTOM

7 posts in this topic

The occasional dark side coin makes "guess the grade" a little more diverse. What say you on this one? :) The coin has a nice patina on both sides, with a tinge of blues on the obverse, and some hints of blues and greens around the devices on the reverse.

I don't have a lot of experience with the series (I'll admit), but my first thought was that it was a very strong AU53. I like the design and the coin's originality; it makes me want to start a "dark" side collection myself.

You are all spot on, it's AU. I believe it would be an AU55 if it were in the "other brand of plastic", and I think it's a pretty solid AU53, but alas, no use splitting hairs. I thought the coin was pretty darn attractive given it's age!! :) You can read where this obscure coin fits into my collection in this thread. Thanks for all the guesses!
