A 1916-D Mercury Dime was found very recently in a dealer's "melt bin" and discussed on Coin Community Forum. The coin appears to be AG3 and genuine (at least at a glance).

I think you have actually posed a question of MORALS, not ETHICS..

There's an awful lot of blurring, and crossover, between those two concepts...

 

I am not sure that I see a meaningful distinction. Are the terms not synonymous?

I agree, but "ethics" is generally governed by some sort of formalized or systematic rules (i.e. you've heard the phrase the "rules of conduct"), whereas morals are beliefs in conduct within relationships. So I'd think the relationship between buyer and seller is more of what's in question here.
