Yes, NCS can work on Civil War Tokens. NCS will evaluate for conservation any coin, token, or medal. Tokens in particular have frequently been improperly stored due to their lower value in relation to coins of the same period. This improper storage can leave residues that will hide the original surfaces.

The particular token in question is a good candidate for conservation. Given its rarity, conservation would almost certainly be a smart decision both financially and numismatically.

It would be difficult for me to give an evaluation for your coin as images can be at times deceiving. It is difficult to determine what may be thick residues and what may be other problems.

Chris, NCS
