Residues can usually be removed from coins. The red residue that appears on this gold coin is found particularly on gold coins. If the residue on your coin is the same as what is typically encountered, we do have techniques to safely remove it. Assuming there are not permanent surface problems on the coin otherwise such as an old improper cleaning, the coin should be able to grade following the conservation.
