1845-D $5 gold, should this coin be "conserved"

In an ANACS slab, bagged as SURFACE RESIDUE. Think NCS can save it? Is it worth it?

Goal is to sell coin for max profit.

In my opinion, regardless of profit motive, the coin should go to NCS.

I'd give NCS a shot. The piece will probably come back with a "bright gold" look that might look unnatural, but the eye appeal should be improved. Unlike copper, the surface under the surface residue may not have eaten into the design. If it has that will be an negative, but at least you will have taken the opportunity to improve the appearance of the piece.
