CONSERVATION

1 post in this topic

I have several "Brown" Ikes, most notably the 1974s, that , because of I guess the cheap plastic they used to encase them, have hazing around the edges which kind of diminishes the nice cameo proof quality of the coins. If I were to send them in for grading would conservation clean that up and restore the cameo appearance?

Another question, I handle my proof coins with gloves, but is there a preferred surface to lay a proof coin on so as not to contaminate it with whatever might be around? Not worried so much about dust but picking up some oils or moisture from whatever surface it is set on.

Thanks - Tom
