I found this 1864 Indian Heat cent while going through some of my old penny rolls. It is TWICE as thick as regular cents. Is this commom? A little help? Thanks

Looks and your description sounds like a Copper-Nickel which are thicker than the Bronze

Yes, it is normal. Until 1865 (I believe) the IHCs were made of Copper-Nickel and MUCH thicker. Also, if you drop it on a table or flip it, it sounds quite a bit different than a Bronze or Copper-Nickel cent.

They were all wheats and indians. others in there werea super nice 1944S 45D 48D 50 50D really nice 51 46 40D 47, and about 15 indians from 1902-1909. Thanks for your response Rick.
