1937 D Washington Quarter by Daniel McMunn

The label on your NGC slab reads 1937-S not 1937-D. Thats great news since the 1937-S is rarer and more valuable than a 1937-D. The more common 1937-D had a mintage of 7,189,600 while your 1937-S had one of the lowest mintages in the Washington quarter series with only only 1,652,000 struck. The 2012 Red Book lists a 1937-S Quarter in MS65 at $400.00. Obviously a MS67 would be much more valuable.

Your 1937-S Quarter in MS67 is a NGC TOP POP coin with an NGC population of 26. The PCGS on-line population report lists 19 1937-S Quarters in MS67 and 2 in MS67 +.

The NGC price guide lists the value of your coin at $2,800.00 while the PCGS price guide lists the value at $4,250.00. Of course at a major auction your coin could possibly bring more than the list price. Checking the auction archives at some of the major auction houses can give you an idea of what 1937-S Quarters in MS67 have sold for in the past.

There is no doubt that you have a very rare and valuable coin.
