Not been out for a age .. very few signals but hit some early silver :whee:

Neat find, Dooly. I've been thinking of getting a MD myself to get some exercise. I dont have nearly as many great places as you do (is that a Celtic coin?) but I am researching a promising site nearby that might have some 100 year old US coins.

Looks like an Anglo-Saxon silver penny, maybe an Archbishop.

What is the size & weight? I can't make out much of the lettering or details.

If you just find a single piece I don't think you do. If you find a group (hoard) within a small area you would. Exactly how many you would need to be a hoard, or how small the area I don't know. Of course the reporting requirements are probably flexible. Report one silver penny? No. Report one gold penny? Yes.
