1883 "V" Nickel

I picked this up not too long ago at an local coin club auction figuring it just might be a little raw jewel. Any comments as to the grade, and if it is worth sending in would be appreciated. The overall picture quality is pretty good (for me) and shot thru the 2X2 with some unnoticed marks on the plastic windows. Thanks for any replies in advance!

Based on your photo the coin looks to be polished. But then it could just be your lighting.

I was thinking the same thing. I immediately thought polished heavily, thought the coin has obvious MS details. If it's original unaltered surfaces then it's surely a gem.

Thanks, Bill, that was my hope when I purchased it, but I KNEW the odds of it being a proof were slim to none.

And thanks, guys, for all the input. I knew it probably was polished when I bought it, but I thought I would grab it (less than $10 at auction) and ask opinions. Cheap learning, and it's still a pretty coin :)
