Rare but documented isle of man variety

1 post in this topic

Hi can anyone explain why NGC do not recognize world variety coins not listed in Krause. I collect Isle of man coins and 1733 and 1786 the coins in the isle of man had a lot of variants but very few are listed by Krause, yet are well documented in spinks/ coincraft as well as many specialist books. Surely if the correct evidence is sent in with the coin and the coin can be verified would this not offer a fairer survice to world coin collectors. The coin that has raised this point for me is a rare 1786 half penny wide flan variant, the fan is 29mmm unlike the standard coin of 27mm. I have already had it graded and has come back as MS63. But not as a variant. I think at best I may get a spink number added but stated in words would be so much better thanks for any comments in advance. For anyone who is intrested in Isle of man coins COINS OF THE ISLE OF MAN written by Mike j. Southall is like a bible.
