New minor die variety found tonight

Scratching through my 1971 proofs i have just found this "punk" Kennedy .. vsorry about the photos..

 

coin a is the "normal" one and the second has 3 spikes running from the hair to the leg of the R .. they are pointed and look like chisel marks on wood . but like a negative image ..

 

 

what do you think

Do they appear to be raised, Dooly? If so, they might be die gouges.

dooly's photo shows excellent balance of contrast, depth of field and lighting. The circle of optimum sharpness is about 2x the height of the nine, which is just right for this subject.

 

Now --- will he reveal the secret to this side of the pond?
