OK, it's not a U.S. coin, but it is one of my favorites for less than $50.

 

This is a restrike of a 2 Ducats piece originally struck in 1642. It was restruck in 1963 by Austria. I purchased this pristine piece (with prooflike surfaces and graded MS68 by NGC) for $48 about 6 months ago.
