Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for a graded 2008 dcam 70?

I would think around $4500.00.

These have gone for as low as $3100 and as high as $7500 over the last few months.

 

$4500 would be about average since the $7500 figure was a flyer.

First Strike or Early Release is only a scam if you don't realize the same (or greater) value when selling than when buying. Even then I wouldn't call it a scam. I'd call it marketing.

 

On modern bullion, proofs tend to have greater value but again YMMV.
