1882 CC Vam 2

4 posts in this topic

This one is for Chris. Since you brought up the Vam 2 in the prior post, just happen to have traded for this as well at the show. And it is on the 40 hit list..Athough not a big fan of toners, I do enjoy those with slight or subtle tone. Thinking a Vam 2A2 but has several extra clashes which are seen in 2c as well. Enjoy.

Chet, I've found that the VAM-2 listings are a bit confusing, and I think it is due to the wiki-based protocol which allows any of the members to enter their photos. I know that the dies for this series underwent numerous clashes and polishing over their lifetime, and I'm not really sure which VAM-2c I have any more. Mine is attributed by NGC as a VAM-2c (period!) and that's fine with me.

You can blame me for a few of those 1882-CC VAM 2 revisions....

Nope, Todd! I don't blame any one person. I blame the system. What is funny is that a couple of the VAM-2c photos are mine, but they were posted well before the other discoveries. Now, I think I noticed duplicates of these photos on more than one listing.

It's sort of like the rancher who went out to the "south 40" to brand his cow, but when he got there, he found several of them. Since he wasn't sure which one was his, he branded all of them.
