NGC Coin Prices

Where does the prices for coins listed on NGC price guide come from? I like looking at the prices realized from auctions to give me a true value of the coin, but if the NGC price doesn't match that or the grey sheet, then I don't have a true idea as to the value of my coins. And we all know that about 90% of dealers will look at the grey sheet to buy my coins.

Thank you for the question. The NGC US Coin Price Guide values are provided by NumisMedia and are based on actual retail transactions. The greysheet reports wholesale prices, while the NGC US Coin Price Guide is a retail value guide.

 

The World Coin Price Guide values are provided by Krause Publications' Numismaster.
