and slowly chipping away!

Hi fellow Collectors,

I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas and New Years. My family and I went down to San Francisco to spend Christmas with my brothers. It was the first time in a couple years that all 4 of my brothers and all of the kids my were able to get together. A most enjoyable and fun time! New Years was quiet for myself and my wife. We just stayed home while my girls went out enjoyed themselves. The weather was wonderful and no snow on the ground this year. My girls said the casinos did a good job with the fireworks display.

My first addition to my modern commemorative collection this year is the 1992 White House graded MS70. I found it flipping through Ebay compliling a list of coins I want to keep an eye on. It was offered at $80 BIN or best offer. He accepted $70 and with $3 for shipping...BINGO...coin in hand! I always enjoy the spur of the moment purchase.

When I entered this coin into my regisrty, I was shocked again at the huge task of acquiring a complete set of modern commemorative silver $1 in the 70 grade. I am only at 35% but slowly chipping away at it. I believe a goal of 50% in reachable this year.

Best of luck getting those grades and coins this in 2012!

Done slipped my mind about the crack I found on the slab in the lower corned. It wasn't mentioned nor did it show in the auction photos. The coin is undamaged and the seller refunded $15 to cover reholder fees. We were both satisfied so it will go to NGC with a couple other scratched holders for replacement.

Nice pickup Jeffrey,

I once had a mangled envelope delivered to me with the usual post office note mentioning the sorting machine had eaten the envelope. It had a fragment of a slab I had purchased from a seller on ebay. After the immediate exchange of emails, he told me he had received the acutal coin back and the rest of the fragmented slab. Suffice it to say, there was a complete refund given. I give the guy a big BZ, he sent the refund almost with me asking. Now I can laugh at the envelope with fragment, but at the time, I was stressed.

(:

Regards,

Malcolm

Congrats on a great coin, I have always loved the modern commemoratives., but I hear you, i started out trying to collect them in 70 and got flustered and gave up and sold them, I wish i had them back every time I see one.

Good luck this year on acquiring more 70's
