Does NGC re-slab the core of the holder?

During a re-holder, does only the clear shell get replaced, or is the core/label replaced too? I ask this because there are some slabs with older labels and cores.

Thanks!

Thanks for the question. When a coin is reholdered all of the pieces (shell and core) are replaced. A new label is also printed. All reholders will receive a EdgeView core and a scratch-resistant shell.

Hi,

I want to make clear something that under submission form, there is an option "scratch-resistant holder" , if without select it, does it meant those holder still come with EdgeView core BUT without scratch-resistant shell ( use old shell only ) ?

thanks/Davis.

Davis,

That's correct -- if you do not select Scratch-Resistant Holder they would get the EdgeView core but not the scratch-resistant shell. A few higher tiers come with scratch-resistant holders automatically, but for the lower tiers you would have to select that option.

The non-scratch-resistant holder is not exactly an old shell -- the shells have the same hologram and appear identical in all ways, except that the scratch-resistant holder has a special clear coating (similar to what is used on eye glasses).
