PCGS MS63PL 1885-O Morgan coin toned

7 posts in this topic

I suspect the toning is on the dark side... Just my photographer's instinct.

Super quick guide to making the OP's pictures better:

1. Set your camera into Macro mode

2. Try not to shoot at angle to the coin but perpendicular

3. Set the white balance of your camera to match the light bulb you're using. Or use a daylight balanced bulb like an OTT light.

4. Use 2 light sources placed (as a starting point) at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions - and move as needed

5. It's best if you don't handhold, a little travel tripod helps (copy stand is best)

To the OP: I like your enthusiasm and interest. We all want to encourage you. But I get the feeling you're on the learning curve. If so, enjoy this time but don't get too worried about getting everything right. If not, then ignore me. :)

Looks ok but the white balance in the images makes it hard to determine what the toning looks like hm
