1835 Silver 8 Reales Conservation

A customer sent me his pictures, another nice result! He said he soaked in acetone first and then used VC. This is a 90% silver 10% copper coin.

Me neither! Someone on another forum said this coin is a counterfeit. I have no idea, but the conservation was still nice. It's cool to see someone save a coin.

 

NCS does amazing work and I recommend them on high-end coins, but lesser coins aren't worth the expense. Developing your own conservation methods and techniques is important for the serious collector.

I remember seeing this one @ coincommunity. Neat case of a debased original (most likely mint produced).

 

Acetone gets 2 big thumbs up from me. I use it on all my raw coin purchases.
